Sounds Good Charter Mark

Rewarding excellence in accessibility

for people with hearing loss

Who we are

We are a team of experienced accessibility consultants and

trainers.

We developed and co-delivered the Access for All training for Visit England, as part of the Access Unlimited consortium with The Accessible Training Company and Visits Unlimited.

Where other access consultant specialise in access relating to wheelchair users, we specialise in the

access needs of people with hearing loss.

Our training sessions are delivered by a team of experienced associates who, in addition to their professional skills, have personal experience of hearing loss.

What we do

Disability awareness training

We deliver practical, engaging, training sessions on Access for All, Legislation, Customer Care and Hearing Loops.

Sounds Good Charter Mark

Our charter mark scheme audits and rewards businesses which meet the

access needs of people with hearing loss in the areas of information, equipment, facilities and customer care.

Hearing Loss Friendly

Our travel and tourism directory for people with hearing loss which aims to become a one-stop resource for people looking for accessible accommodation, venues and days out.

Equipment

We are suppliers of specialist life-saving equipment for accommodation, enabling businesses to comply with the Equality Act 2010 and relevant Fire Safety legislation.

Why we do it
Mainstream accessibility schemes and audits tend to focus on the needs of people with mobility issues, visual
impairments and Deaf people who use BSL: the access needs of people with hearing loss are often overlooked. We hope to redress the balance and raise awareness of the needs of people with hearing loss.

Many accommodation providers we speak to seem unaware of the legislation regarding fire saftey and evacuation plans for deaf guests. We hope to raise awareness about the key aspects of Fire Safety legislation and the Equality Act 2010 to avoid scenarios like this.

Our inspiration

Travel & tourism directory for people with hearing loss

There are around 11 million people in the UK with hearing loss.

Where can they find accessible accommodation and days out?
